The 4th European Rural Geographies Conference is an international scientific event organized by the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto (FLUP) and the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (FCUP). The challenge presented to Oporto Webdesign was to create the entire digital presence of the event, develop the official visual identity, and provide the technical and logistical secretariat required to support the organization through its various stages.
Project Description:
The 4th European Rural Geographies Conference project represents an integrated solution, combining design, web development and specialized organizational support.
In addition to the official website, a complete visual identity was created for the event, along with all the digital and documentation support required to manage registrations, communications, and technical materials.
The main elements developed were:
1. Official Event Website
Full development in WordPress using Elementor.
A structure tailored to academic communication: programme, submissions, keynote speakers, venues, deadlines, and logistics.
Integration with registration and submission forms (abstracts, posters, registrations).
Content area prepared for continuous updates by the organising team.
Design limpo, institucional e responsivo, adequado ao contexto universitário.
2. Event Visual Identity
Creation of the event’s official logo for the 4th European Rural Geographies Conference.
Development of the main poster, later applied across digital and print materials.
Definition of the graphic foundations for communication: colours, typography, and overall visual style.
3. Technical Secretariat
and Operational Support
Based on the allocated support hours agreed with the organisation, Oporto Webdesign ensured:
Management of registrations and participant communications.
Support with the submission and organisation of abstracts and posters.
Creation, editing, and distribution of files: programmes, lists, PDF materials, circulars, and newsletters.
Continuous management of website content and databases.
Support to the organising team, both remotely and on-site, including setup and coordination of the digital secretariat during the event.
Direct coordination with the teams from the Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto and the Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade do Porto, ensuring agility, consistency, and institutional reliability.
Client’s Goal
To create a clear and accessible digital platform, establish the event’s official identity, and ensure all administrative and operational support required to run an international scientific conference with hundreds of participants.
